Rapid Weight Loss
So many people are looking for the rapid weight loss
remedies. The problem is that weight loss should be done gradually. I
know many want to look good for summer, fit into a size 2 or simply look
better but rapid weight loss is not the answer.
When a person looses weight too quickly like on crash diets or very low
energy diets that consist of 800 calories per day, it leads to medical
problems. These crash diets lead to a loss of muscle and water which can
lead to other medical issues. Did you know that on crash diets each pound of
weight loss contains more lean tissue (muscle) and less body fat than a
moderate weight loss diet? It does. You want to lose the fat not the
muscle.
A second reason that rapid weight loss is not the answer is it slows you down. If your
not taking in enough calories your body's metabolic rate actually slows
down like it's hibernating or something. Your not a bear are you? You need your metabolic rate to
speed up to burn more calories. This can be achieved by eating more
small meals throughout the day. You don't want your body to conserve
energy, you want it to burn it. Think of your body as being a
hummingbird. Their metabolic rates are through the roof.
When you crash diet there are also long term effects. These effects can
affect the bodies ability to maintain the weight you lost. This is because of
the loss of lean tissue and the slowdown of the bodies metabolic rate.
When you regain the weight you lost using a crash diet it is fat and not
muscle. This turns into a vicious cycle of dieting, lost energy and
continued loss of lean tissue. Not good.
It pays to be patient rather than resorting to rapid weight loss antics.
There are several reasons for this. One, gradually reducing calories
gives your body time to adjust, preserves lean muscle mass and sustains
energy. Two, you'll maintain your strength and stamina which is very
important. And finally, you'll be able to preserve the body's ability to
process oxygen which aids in fat burning for fuel.
When you lose weight gradually, you look better, feel better and have
more energy to do the things you love and enjoy. Be sure to stay away from
all those extremely low calorie diets and crash diets especially.
You owe it to you and your body to lose weight the right way and not
resort to rapid weight loss techniques.
